These terms cover transferring a domain name to Pladinum and away from us, the authorisation codes and locks involved, and what happens when a transfer does not complete.
Last revised: 15 August 2026We want to make sure you have all the information you need. While we provide translations of our legal agreements and policies for your ease, please keep in mind that the English version is the official and most accurate one. Translations are just here to help you read and understand better, but they don’t have any legal weight. If there’s ever a misunderstanding, the English version will be the one that counts.
These Domain Transfer Terms govern the transfer of domain names to and from Pladinum Group SL (“Pladinum”, “we”, “us”, “our”). They form part of the Domain Registration Agreement and supplement the General Terms and Conditions. In respect of domain name transfers, these Terms prevail.
1.1 These Terms apply to inbound transfers (a domain name moved to Pladinum from another provider) and outbound transfers (a domain name moved from Pladinum to another provider).
1.2 Transfer rules are set by ICANN for generic top-level domains and by the relevant registry for country-code extensions. Where those rules conflict with these Terms, they prevail.
2.1 Requirements. To transfer a domain name to Pladinum, the domain name must be unlocked at the losing provider, must not be within a restricted period under Section 4, and a valid authorisation code (EPP or auth code) must be supplied where the extension requires one.
2.2 Registrant approval. The transfer must be approved by the registrant using the email address held in the domain record. It is the Customer’s responsibility to ensure that address is current and accessible before starting a transfer.
2.3 Term added. On successful transfer, most extensions add one (1) year to the remaining registration period. Some extensions do not add time, and some reset the registration period. The behaviour for a given extension is shown before purchase.
2.4 Timing. A transfer is submitted within one (1) business day of a valid request. Completion is governed by the losing registrar and the registry and typically takes five (5) to seven (7) days. Pladinum does not control that timeline.
2.5 Continuity of service. A transfer does not change the nameservers of a domain name unless the Customer requests it. Websites and email continue to resolve through the existing DNS configuration during and after the transfer. Where the Customer chooses to change nameservers, the change is applied after the transfer completes.
2.6 Refusal. A transfer may be refused by the losing registrar or the registry for legitimate reasons, including non-payment, an active dispute, a transfer lock, an expired domain name, or missing authorisation. Pladinum is not liable where a transfer fails for a reason outside its control.
3.1 The Customer may transfer a domain name away from Pladinum at any time, subject to the restrictions in Section 4.
3.2 Pladinum will not withhold an authorisation code, apply a transfer lock, or otherwise delay an outbound transfer except where required by ICANN, by the registry, by applicable law, or where the account has an outstanding balance or is subject to an active dispute.
3.3 The authorisation code is available from the customer portal. Pladinum does not charge a fee for releasing it.
3.4 No refund is due in respect of a domain name transferred away from Pladinum. Time remaining on the registration transfers with the domain name.
4.1 For generic top-level domains, a domain name may not be transferred to another registrar during the sixty (60) days following: (i) initial registration; (ii) a previous transfer; or (iii) a change of registrant.
4.2 For country-code top-level domains, the applicable restriction period is set by the registry and may differ from Section 4.1.
4.3 A domain name that has expired may not be transferable until it has been renewed.
4.4 A domain name subject to a dispute, a court order, or a registry hold may not be transferred until the matter is resolved.
5.1 Pladinum may apply the clientTransferProhibited status to a domain name: (i) at initial registration, where the Customer has given informed consent; (ii) on a verified request from the registrant; or (iii) where required by applicable law or by ICANN policy.
5.2 A transfer lock applied at the Customer’s request may be removed by the Customer at any time through the customer portal.
5.3 Pladinum will not apply a transfer lock other than as set out in this Section.
6.1 Where a domain name is transferred into Pladinum and the registrant is changed at the same time or shortly afterwards, the domain name may be transferred back to the losing registrar on written request by the registrant listed immediately before the transfer, on request by the losing registrar, or where fraud is suspected.
7.1 A transfer fee, where charged, is shown before purchase and includes the additional registration period where the extension provides one.
7.2 A transfer fee is refundable only where the transfer did not complete and the refund is requested within thirty (30) calendar days of payment. Successfully completed transfers are not refundable.
7.3 Certain extensions do not permit refunds on transfer under any circumstances. Refund eligibility is confirmed before purchase.
